    Students from Hershey High School want to thank Kimball fans for the generosity they showed during a recent football game. On Oct. 17, the Longhorns traveled to Hershey for a game in which students and others in the stands wore orange ribbons in support of Paige Larchick, a junior at the school who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.     The local advisory committee for Oliver Reservoir seeks input from Kimball County citizens. The committee held a public meeting last Thursday in which citizens were able to voice their thoughts and concerns. Those who could not attend may still submit input to Galen Wittrock of the South Platte Natural Resources District by calling 308-254-2377.     Kimball County voters mirrored those of voters across the state and region in many non-local races. For governor and lieutenant governor, Kimball County voted heavily in favor of Republicans Pete Ricketts and Mike Foley. The two won 909 votes in the county, coming in at 75.12 percent. Democrats Chuck Hassebrook and Jane Reybould came in with 238 votes and 19.67 percent, while Libertarians Mark G. Ellworth Jr. and Scott Zimmerman had 63 votes and 5.21 percent.     Congressman Adrian Smith talked about his work and answered questions about a variety of topics during a visit last week with a Kimball High School government class. Smith, a Republican from Gering, represents 75 of the state's 93 counties as part of the third congressional district. One issue that could affect many of the students soon is student loans.     Potter-Dix will meet up with Paxton for the second time of the 2014 season on Thursday. This time, however, one team will advance and one will go home. The Wildcats outscored visiting Cody-Kilgore 41-18 in the second half as they rolled to a 60-24 victory on Friday afternoon.     Head start and early head start in Kimball and Scotts Bluff counties will see a change in the group that administers the programs. An accounting error in the 2010-2011 fiscal year by Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska, which runs the program, disallowed it from running the program in the future, said Tim Nolting, the group’s chairman of the board of directors.     Special teams set the tone early on Friday night. Minatare scored touchdowns on a pair of kickoff returns and a punt return in the first quarter and went on to defeat Banner County, 66-31.
