Thanksgiving Week On The Horizon

Good morning, Spring has been in the air and slowly fading, but we will take all we can get!

Last week was the Dinner Theater & One Act Play, delicious meal and awesome job by the students! Thanks for a great evening and to the coaches.

Well, this week we had the Veterans Program and breakfast, and another thank you to all involved in that, and now we are going into the week with Thanksgiving on the horizon.

Tomorrow, November 17th, the wrestling team will be headed to Morrill for competition matches that begin at 9 a.m.

And beginning on that date at 1:30 p.m., the Midwest theater will show the movie “A Haunting in Venice.” This will also play on the 18th at 7:30 p.m. and on the 19th at 1:30 p.m. It is rated PG.

On Saturday, the monthly Free movie at the Midwest Theater is “Casablanca” and show time is 1:30 p.m.

Other events on the 18th include the YMCA/Riverstone Bank 5k Turkey Trot race at 9 a.m. It will begin and end at at the YMCA Valley Pathway.

The Gering Library invites dog lovers of all ages to the library for “Dog Man Day,” with many activities to keep you busy from 1-3 p.m. Oct 18.

Also that evening, the Chuck Wagon Church located on 1408 12th street in Scottsbluff will host a Free Thanksgiving Dinner between 5-7 p.m.

If you are up north, the Chadron Community Hospital Giving Hearts Gala fundraiser will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and dancing at the Chadron Arts Center.

In Bridgeport that evening, there will be a 1980s themed Adult Prom Dance and Dinner at the Prairie Winds Community Center. It will take place between 7 and 11 p.m. For ticket information, please contact the Center.

Now through November 20, you can take various items to several local churches to donate to Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Churches include Mitchell Berean, Trinity United Methodist in Kimball, Sidney E Free, Bridgeport Church of Christ, Alliance Berean or Chadron Ridgeview Bible Church. The monthly Grief Support group meets this Monday, November 20th at 6 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Plaza, Cheyenne Room at 6 p.m.

The girls basketball team will travel to Scottsbluff to play at the high school there at 3:30 pm. on the 21st. Safe travel to you and the wrestlers, and good luck!

That is the Last Day of School for the week, so enjoy your Thanksgiving break, and eat lots of turkey!

Heads Up! The annual 40th anniversary of the Thanksgiving in the Valley Dinner will be on the 23rd, Thanksgiving Day, at the Guadalupe Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you need delivery services please call 308-632-3736.
