Verla Mae Bohac was born in Grant, Nebraska on August 15, 1928, the daughter of Ralph and Evangeline (Smith) Sharp. She moved with her family of 4 brothers and 2 sisters to Ogallala at an early age. She graduated from the Ogallala High School in 1947.

She married John J. Bohac on April 12, 1948 and together, they moved to Kimball, where she assisted him in running Bohac Plumbing & Heating. She kept the books, managed the billing, and enjoyed trips to Scottsbluff on Fridays to get supplies. They also managed The Star Dust Supper Club for many years and later ran the Country Club, serving many meals to golfers and Rotary members until 1973.

Verla worked hard to help take care of her family, she also cleaned several homes, but her main love was being a Homemaker and taking care of the family. She was active in 4-H as a leader. She was crafty and would take old Valentine's Day candy boxes and remove the decorations to decorate cakes making them look like women's hats. When the church would hold The Mother-Daughter Banquets, she would make matching dresses for her daughters and herself. She loved to make Nut Cups for parties and special occasions; the last was for her 70th High School Class Reunion. She always raised a big garden, she loved to bake and make homemade sauerkraut. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and playing cards.

Verla is survived by her daughters; Eileen (Butch) Rowley of Kimball, Nebraska, Johnadean (Bruce) Petersen of North Platte, Nebraska, her sons; Ed Bohac of Kimball, Nebraska, and Tom (Kim) Bohac of Wood River, Oregon, 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughters Marilyn Minor and Ellen Wright, sons; Little John and Miles, grandchildren; John Willard Wright and Americas Bohac. Her siblings Betty Sinsel, Avis Tuepker, Miles, Marvin, Wesley and Glenn Sharp.
