Lyle L. Shaw

Lyle L. Shaw, 86, of Dix, died at the Kimball County Manor on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015.

Lyle LaVern Shaw was born in Sidney on March 2, 1928, the son of Lloyd and Hilma (Nelson) Shaw. He attended a one room school house in Kimball County and graduated from the Dix High School in 1942. He was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served two years as a para-trooper in Kentucky.

Lyle was married to Patricia Marie Kreuzburg in 1953. They adopted three children, Matt, Amyjo and Greg. Lyle and Pat traveled extensively to several countries with their children, while Lyle was representing the Nebraska Lions as District Governor; he obtained several lifelong friends from his involvement in the Lions.

He was a long time member of the Dix Lions Club, a Kimball County Commissioner, served on the FSA Committee, and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Lyle was appointed member of the Mental Health Board in Scottsbluff, and received the Outstanding Farmer award in 1978 in Kimball County. Lyle collected coins; he loved being a steward of the land. He enjoyed sharing his love for farming and ranching with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow in 4-H and any activities in which they were involved.

Survivors include his son, Matt (Miriam) Shaw of Kimball; daughter, Amyjo (Doug) Markel of Lodgepole; daughter-in-law, Isabella Grossinger of Denver; sister Beverly Ramsey or Firestone, Colo .; grandchildren, Tessa, Tyler, Amanda (Zak) Douglass, Landon Martin and his friend Krystian. Great grandchildren Calvin and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Greg; and brothers, Clinton and Wayne.

A Christian wake service was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball with Father James Joseph officiating. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery.
