KVFD's Open House A Tradition Since 2007 For Community To Help Its Heroes
The Kimball Volunteer Fire Department celebrated National Fire Prevention Week, observed from Oct. 6-12 this year, with its annual open house on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Leading up to the event at the fire hall, community support for the department remained strong.
KVFD's first open house was held in 2007, and this now-established successful community event continues to this day. This year's turnout was not immediately available, but more than 180 people attended last year. A light supper and refreshments are served.
Department treasurer Jordan Autrey explained that freewill donations from the open house are used for items not covered in KVFD's regular budget. This includes uniforms, fire hall upgrades, equipment and training.
The volunteer department is comprised of 28 dedicated individuals, who sacrifice time and effort for the community. They average 60 calls a year.
