Elda H. Heidemann

Elda H. (Giesert) Heidemann, 95, of Fairbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Gardenside LTC-JCHC in Fairbury, NE. She was born on July 24, 1928, in Denver, CO to Adolph and Elda (John) Geisert.

Elda attended public school through 6th Grade, then Lutheran School and graduated from South High School. She also attended the Denver Art Institute. Elda worked at AT&T in Denver before moving to Kimball, NE with her beloved 'Grandpa Drake', who had homesteaded in Kimball.

Elda was married to Harold Heidemann, and they had five children. Elda lived on the family farm for many years, raising their family. She later moved to Kansas for several years before ultimately moving to Fairbury to enjoy her golden years near her eldest daughter, a granddaughter, and three great-granddaughters.

Elda enjoyed a lifetime of adventures and new experiences, and her passion was arts and crafts. Elda enjoyed oil painting, woodworking, and especially wheat weaving, building a business selling her art for many years. She was a member of the Kimball Art Guild, Fairbury Art Guild and the National Wheat Weavers Association.

Elda is survived by her brother Ronald Geisert (Fairbanks, AK); four living children (Marilyn Bachle of Fairbury, NE; Susan Ellison of Montara, CA; Wanda Johnsen of Southern Shores, NC; and Robert Heidemann of Elgin, IL), five living grandchildren (Tom and Ross Ellison, Amy Sliva, and Bob and Michaela Heidemann), and five great-grandchildren (Taylor, Mariah, and Hayley Sliva and Emilia and Zach Ellison).

Elda will be buried in a private service in Fairbury, NE. A joyous celebration of her life will be held in Fairbury in the spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Elda may be sent to her daughter, Marilyn Bachle, at 1701 H Street, Fairbury, NE 68352.
