Kimball County FSA Director Wins Award At D.C. Ceremony
Laura Baker, the Farm Service Agency executive director for Kimball County, received the FSA Administrator's Award for Service to Agriculture and one of the Supervisors of the Year during a recent ceremony and reception at the USDA office building in Washington, D.C.
The Administrator's Award acknowledges hard work and diligence in delivering FSA and USDA programs.
The Supervisors of the Year Award recognizes individuals who hold supervisory positions and have demonstrated and contributed to improving the quality and service of FSA.
Baker has worked for the agency since 2009 and has been a county executive director for the past eight years.
The Kimball County office is recognized nationwide for ground enrollment into the Conservation Reserve Program, officials said. Kimball County is nearing the 25% cropland limitation that can be enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program. The last report issued on May 26 shows that Kimball County is at 22.9% currently enrolled.
In addition, Baker helps with the National Office Conservation Reserve Program Erodibility Service Testing, which was critical for the success of future Conservation Reserve Program signups.
She is a facilitator in a group called Hiring Assistance Procedures for Supervisors. This group puts together meetings and material for managers located in three districts in Nebraska to assist with items that Managers experience and need assistance navigating through. She is also a trainer for the County Executive Director Trainee Program.
