Another Great Day Of Celebration In Bushnell

What an incredible day we had on Bushnell Day! Even though the temperature was higher than I would have liked, it was a great day. We had a wonderful turnout and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the day!

The first annual cow tongue football was a success thanks to all the people willing to participate, Jovan Mays for stepping in to officiate and to Twin City Packing out of Gering for the donation of the cow tongues. Thank you also to Gene Russum for the new event idea! It was quite entertaining to watch and looked like the participants had fun playing!

In between the football and cornhole games, the kids enjoyed a water fight and games such as a three-legged gunny sack race! Thanks to Erika Loy for putting that together! The kids also had a couple large inflatables to spend some time on. What fun!

Thanks again to the many craft and food vendors who came to join the fun as well! It was nice to have such yummy food available all day and to also have such great booths set up to offer items to purchase. And a huge thank you to Jamie Bright and Holly Boomer for manning the Bushnell booth all day! We do still have shirts available if anyone is interested. They will be at the Bushnell Village Office if you'd like to purchase one.

Our entertainment was also fantastic. We were fortunate to have so many presenters and performers in the Methodist Church and at the grain bin gazebo. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this! And thank you to Cameron Zwicker and Deb Carpenter-Nolting for getting it organized and to Humanities Nebraska for sponsoring the cultural presentations.

Thank you to our Grand Marshal Roberta Marshall for joining us for the day; to our King and Queen Lewis and Jeanne Laboray for your continued service to our community; to the Junior Royalty for rocking your crowns and getting candy to spectators; to the Rodeo Queen and Princess and other horse riders; to the fire departments and police forces; and to all the businesses and truck owners who made it a great parade!

Congratulations to all of the truck show winners! We appreciate you being a part of the day. Thank you to Tracy Klenda for going above and beyond getting that set up.

The winners of the raffle items were: Michelle Neeb won the Grizzly cooler full of items from businesses, Edna Hickman won the 50/50 raffle, Shellon Anderson won the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department cornhole boards and Sierra Kramer won the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department Grizzly cooler!

Congrats also to the cornhole tournament winners! 1st place: Darrin Lonsdale & Jeff Haskin; 2nd place: Keith Wasielewski & Stacey Daily; 3rd place: Cam McGinnis & Lane Wasielewski.

We also want to congratulate Lloyd Backes on 37 years of serving on the Rural Fire Board!! He was presented a plaque by other members of the Board on his retirement. Bushnell is so blessed to have people such as Lloyd be so dedicated to the community. Thank you for your service!

And a thank you everyone on the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department – you did so much to make Bushnell Day be amazing! The hog roast was incredible, as usual, and you assisted the Bushnell Day committee with so many things!

Thank you to all of our committee members for your hard work to make this another great year of celebration!

I can't thank everyone enough for joining us in our community celebration and we hope to only continue to bring more entertainment every year!
