The Kimball Longhorns wrapped up their first week of football practice last week with some live action, while the girls golf team began practicing at Four Winds Golf Course. Preparations continue 5:30 p.m. Friday when the Kimball Longhorn Boosters present the 2023 Tailgate Sports Kickoff featuring volleyball and football scrimmages and girls golf and cross county showcases. Parents meetings for each team also are planned for that evening. Admission is a Gatorade or two, which will be donated to the teams. Food will be available for a fee.

High school and junior high fall sports seasons open this coming week for this area's cross country, football, girls golf and volleyball teams.
Here are the schedules for Kimball, Potter-Dix and Banner County through the first full week of September.
Kimball
Aug. 18, 2023 Tailgate Sports Kickoff. Volleyball scrimmage at 5:30 p.m., cross country showcase at 5:45, golf showcase at 6:30 and football scrimmage at 7.
Aug. 21, 6 p.m., football, Kimball JV hosts Perkins County JV
Aug. 22, 9 a.m., girls golf at Sidney
