Schools Getting Summer Upgrades

New Asphalt, Flooring, Entrance Approved At School Board Meeting

Both Mary Lynch Elementary School and Kimball Jr./Sr. High School will receive some much needed attention during the summer months. Bids were received, and the Kimball School Board accepted bids Monday for new flooring, asphalt, and an entrance vestibule for the high school.

The Mary Lynch Elementary parking and driveway will be repaired and receive asphalt paving, as well as the workshop area at the Jr./Sr. High School. Flooring will be poured in the north and south hallways, art room, and FCS room at the high school. The elementary will receive new flooring in the restrooms.

In other action items, the Kimball School Board accepted the resignation of Meredith Christiansen, the 7-9 Science teacher.

The school is cleaning out under the stadium, and the board declared items such as chairs, tables, and desks as surplus property, which will be sold.

Superintendent Trevor Anderson's report stated that LED lights were installed at the transportation facility, superintendent's office, and other offices.

Financially, Anderson reported that 44.03% of the budget had been spent, with 58% of the fiscal year completed. The current cash in the general fund is $2,323,236.08. The balance in 2022 was $2,160,139.24.

The board recognized the achievements of students, including FFA, show choir, choir, tumbling, federation wrestling, and shooting sports.

The next regular board meeting will be Monday, May 8, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Kimball County Transit Service, 233 South Chestnut St.
