Lois A. Lane

Lois A. Lane, 95, of Dix, died at Kimball Health Services on Monday, March 6, 2023. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Wauneta Cemetery in Wauneta, Nebraska with Pastor Elias Mukindia officiating.

Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to leave condolences and stories for the family. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Memorial may be given in memory of Lois to either the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Hospital. The services for Lois have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Lois Arlene Lane was born in Wauneta, Nebraska on March 7, 1927, the daughter of Chester and Bessie (Ough) Stock. She was raised in Wauneta and graduated from high school in 1945. Following high school she went to Beauty School in Hastings, NE.

She was married to Lloyd (Tony) Wheeler and to this union Carmen, Larry, Jim and Terry were born. They moved to Dix and Lois owned and operated the LW Trucking with her husband. Tony preceded her in death in 1967.

She was married to Jerald Lane in 1975, and she continued to run LW Trucking. Jerald preceded her in death in 1996. She owned the J/L Mini Lunch Truck and her favorite meal to serve was the "Superman Sandwich."

She also developed and had a patent on the Wall-E-Gator fishing lure. Lois enjoyed bowling, gardening and doing crochet. She was a member of the Red Hatters and made many pies for the Kimball Eagles.

Survivors include her children Carmen (Gary) Staab of Rock Springs, WY., Larry (Trish) Wheeler of Kearney, NE., Jim (Linda) Wheeler of Gering, NE., and Terry Wheeler of Kimball, NE; step-daughters Renee Swartwood and Geri Leach both of Casper, WY; 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, 2 grandsons, daughter-in-law Joyce Wheeler and many other extended family and friends.
