Banner County Historical Society Seeking Help For Historical Days

Good morning, still feeling the chill. About the time the snow and ice are pretty much melted, here comes more snow.

Some places are total mud holes and others ( like my driveway ) are completely snowed in. Still waiting on the county plows.

Tomorrow, March 10th there will be NO School! However, the annual Bandana Benefit Ball will take place at the Gering Civic Center on that date, beginning at 5 p.m. If you would like more information please call the Legacy of the Plains Museum at 436-1989.

Also beginning on the 10th at the Midwest Theater is the movie “Avatar: The Way of Water.” This will play on the 10th at 7:30 p.m., the 11th at 6:30 p.m. and on the 12th at 1:30 p.m. It is rated PG-13 and has been nominated for about every award available.

I enjoyed it a lot, but not as much as the first “Avatar.” Isn’t that the way it goes, kind of like reading the book first and liking it better than the movie because they change it, just enough.

Saturday March 11th will see another annual event as the 33rd Oregon Trail Pheasants Forever Banquet will be held at the Weborg 21 Center in Gering. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. If you need more information please call 765-9384 or 765-5270.

Sunday, March 12 ,we will be living on a different time plane as (hopefully) we remembered to Spring our clocks Forward at 2 a.m. or before we went to bed Saturday evening. I seriously don’t know of anyone ever getting up to change clocks in what I consider the middle of the night.

Is the Bill to keep the time stationary still in debate, or has it passed, maybe?

Monday, March 13th is the regular meeting of the school board. They meet at the school at 7 p.m. Many changes going on up there right now.

The musical ensemble Danu will perform at the Midwest Theater on Wednesday evening March 15th. This group play traditional Irish tunes, beginning at 7:30 p.m. More information is available by calling 632-4311. The concert will last about 2 hours.

The Banner County Historical Society is looking for help with any and all activities concerning Historical Days, coming up in June. If you are interested contact them at [email protected].

The next Commissioners meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21st.

I know that Cheyenne Frontier Days is a long ways off, but concert tickets sell fast. Some of the entertainers this year will be Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, Tim McGraw, Zach Bryan and Old Dominion. Nice lineup.

Well until next time, take care. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
