Not Sure How Leprechauns Handle Snow; Commissioners Meet March 8

Here we are in the month of Green. Let us hope for rain and to ease up on the snow – don’t know for sure how the Leprechauns handle snow.

Over the hill and to the north, the Western Arts Center will be opening two new exhibits. Featured in the Main Gallery will be work by Yelena Khanveskaya, titled “One Hundred Western Skies.” The open house will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 2nd – today! – and the exhibit will run through March 26th. This is Free and open to the public.

In the Bronson Gallery The After School Program will begin on March 3rd and continue through April 30th. For more information please call 632-2226.

If you enjoy trivia you have a chance to show your expertise. On Friday, March 3rd the Soroptimists of Scotts Bluff County assisted by Upland Private Wealth will host “Trivia, Tapas and Treasures.” This will take place at the Gering Civic Center and will begin at 5:30 p.m. Teams may be either of 4 or 8 players. For more information, please contact any Soroptimist or Gateway Realty. Trivia, tapas, a live and silent auction will be the evenings agenda.

On Saturday, March 4th, the VFW Post 1681 in Gering will hold a craft fair between 9 a.m. & 4 p.m. They are located at 2710 10 St. Also on Saturday the Bikers in Dresses will be at the Uptown Mall between 2 & 6 p.m. holding a prom charity event. They are in need of dresses and accessories, contact info at [email protected].

That evening at the Judy Chaloupa Theater located on the WNCC campus “2023 Broadway in the Bluffs” will be presented by members of Theatre West. This annual fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. and will be a diverse program of music from Broadway musicals. More information is obtained by calling either 635-6193 or 635-6794. As a plus there will be a chocolate buffet following the music!

Also on the 4th, more music will be available at the Midwest Theater with the performance of the Legacy of Five, a Southern Gospel Quartet who will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Down South, the Annual Kimball FFA Labor Auction will be from 5-7 p.m. I am assuming this will be held at the high school, but you can go to https://fb.me/e/3aywG6FRH for more information. This will include dinner and the auction.

Get your yard work help NOW! On Sunday, March 5th there will be the annual Penny Carnival, at the St. Agnes Church, located at 205 E 23rd street in Scottsbluff.

The games will be played between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once” will play at the Midwest Theater on the 3rd at 7:30 p.m. and on the 5th at 1:30 p.m. Someone needs to save the universe, right?

The Winter Farmers Market will be held for the four Saturdays in March, then it is gone, gone, gone.

They are at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering and open for business between 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2nd.

Today, the students will be finishing up with Dr. Suess with “ If I Ran a Zoo.” I ran a zoo once; it was called raising kids...

District Speech will be on Tuesday the 7th at Arthur County beginning at 9 a.m., and on the 8th the final round of the Geography Bee will begin at 1 p.m.

Here is just a Heads Up. There will be NO School on March 10th – snow or no snow.

The next Banner County Commissioners Meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m on Tuesday, March 8th. Since the last meeting was postponed due to the weather, this could be quite lengthy. Bring a lunch.
