Banner County High School Musicians Receive Statewide Notice

The Banner County News

The music program at Banner County School brings our entire community together twice a year for the Christmas and Spring concerts. Our band and choir students also enrich programs such as our Veterans Day program, Commencement, Homecoming, and Pep Rallies! With the return of our varsity sports, our Pep Band helped warm the chilly night air at our home football games!

Sandy Wounded Arrow has directed the Banner County School Band and Chorus since 2005. In addition to the regular music classes in the school's 4-day week program, musicians have open rehearsal and audition time on Optional Enrichment Fridays (OEFs), through which they enjoy small ensemble rehearsal time and opportunities to explore and experience additional instruments under Mrs. Wounded Arrow's guidance. Each year her students audition for a number of honor bands and choirs. This year, BCS musicians earned an impressive number of seats!

Sixteen schools throughout the Panhandle participated in the Oregon Trails Honor Band.  The clinician was Dr. Andrew D. Feyes. The Chadron State College Music Department will host the 51st High Plains Band and Choir Honor Festival on February 6-7, 2023. Students selected for the High Plains Band and Choir Music Festival participate in two days of rehearsals and activities culminating in a concert at the end of the second day. The final concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. MST on Tuesday, February 7 in Memorial Hall Auditorium.  Banner County Schools is proud to announce that four of our students were selected to participate in this event after rigorous tryouts.
