Turning The Page To Christmas; Historical Society Hosts Carry-In Dinner

Banner County

Good morning Banner County. Here is hoping that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, survived Black Friday, and are ready for some much colder weather.

Leftovers are always a plus. I don't do Black Friday, and I don't believe that I will ever be ready for cold weather no matter what season.

So now we are getting ready for Christmas, guess I am OK with that. There were three Christmas parades this past weekend, and I missed them all.

The plan was to go to one on Friday, but the plan was derailed. So for now we will concentrate on Christmas and slow down with most everything else.

However, there is a new showing at the Western Nebraska Arts Center, Main Gallery. The Jo Haslow exhibition will open Saturday, December 3rd and run through December 29.

The open house Saturday will be from 57 p.m. and is free and everyone is welcome. The exhibit it titled "Welcome To My World: 60 Years of Art & Counting."

Also on this Saturday, the High Plains Christmas at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering will begin at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Entrance for lunch and Trees Along the Trail is free. The Trees will be available for viewing through December 23rd.

Christmas Market in Downtown Scottsbluff will be from noon to 5 p.m. for all of your holiday shopping. The Bluffs Middle School Jazz Band will be entertaining shoppers on the corner of the 18th Street Plaza at 2:30 p.m., adding to the Christmas atmosphere.

While doing that shopping, there will be a free movie on Saturday afternoon at the Midwest Theater. They will be showing "The Grinch" at 1:30 p.m. The movie on the 2nd and the evening of the 3rd will be "The Holiday" and will start at 7:30 p.m. This one will also play Sunday the 4th as a matinee at 1:30 p.m.

The folks in Alliance at the Public Library will be hosting a Holiday Extravaganza on Monday, December 5th from 4-5:30 p.m. if you are up that way.

Here at home the high school boys basketball team will be in action on Saturday the 3rd, traveling to Garden County for game time at 1 p.m., and the Historical Society will be hosting the annual Carry-in Dinner at 5:30 p.m.

More high school boys basketball on the 5th as they travel to Minatare for a 5:30 match, and then the junior high boys basketball team travels to Potter-Dix competition on the 7th for competition at 1 p.m.

Wednesday, December 7th is also the date for the District contest for One Act in Chappell. Good luck and safe travel to all of you.

Take care and have a great week. Until next time, Barb Cross at 436-7152.
