Subdistrict Final For P-D VB

Potter-Dix’s Lady Coyote volleyball team has had an outstanding season, and looked to finish the job and move on to State Tournament play with a victory over rival Leyton on Tuesday.

The Lady Coyotes had a stumble going into the subdistrict tournament, not playing as well as they should have in the MAC Tournament and then losing matches to Creek Valley and South Platte to end their regular season.

But the Lady Coyotes regrouped and took down Minatare in straight sets in the semifinal round of the subdistrict tournament on Monday, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-9. The well-balanced offensive attack was led by senior Lily Tabor’s six kills and four ace serves. Senior Kallie Crossman had 16 assists in the win.

They faced off against rival Leyton on Tuesday in the subdistrict final. Leyton has been playing their best volleyball as the season closes, with a second place finish in the MAC Tournament.

The two teams have split their matches so far this season, and Tuesday’s match up should be a close match.

Although the 23-and-8 Lady Coyotes boast the better record than the 18-and-12 Lady Warriors, Leyton has a strong team that is playing well and can give the Lady Coyotes trouble with their big players at the net. Potter-Dix will have to play their best match of the season to get past the surging Lady Warriors.
