Second Meet & Greet For Banner County Challengers On Oct. 16

Discussion at the Alliance Public Library with best selling author Tosca Lee will be on Thursday, October 13th at 6:30 p.m. Books placed in Nebraska about a pandemic are described as “ frighteningly and chillingly believable.”

The books are “The Line Between” and the sequel “A Single Night.” Everyone is invited to attend.

Also on the 13th at the Midwest Theater “Forever Young,” five guys who will rock your world in a good way with music that will include pop, rock, and classic country. The fun begins at 7:30 p.m.

Friday the 14th from 4-6 p.m. the Scottsbluff Rural Fire District will host a Meet & Greet at 1722 E 20th, the Luna Bean. The fire department does an excellent job and is aided when the need arises by these guys as well as many other area departments. Stop in and say “thanks” if you are in town.

Also on the 14th, the Scotts Bluff County Veterans are hosting a chili feed at the Gering vs. Scottsbluff football game in Gering at 7 p.m.

The Midwest Theater will show an oldie, but a goodie on the 14th & 15th at 7:30 p.m. and on the 16th at 1:30 p.m. – “E.T.,” a movie I first saw in Gillette and was worried that it would scare our then very young daughter. Never fazed her.

The Riverside Discovery Center is hosting the 34th annual Sppoktacular Family Nights event, which will run on the 14th & 15 from 5:30 -8:00 p.m. and on the 16th from 4-6 p.m.

For those of you that are parents to four legged fur babies, Saturday the 15th there will be a costume contest, Howl-O-Ween at the Monument Dog Park in Gering. It will begin at 3 p.m. and there will be treats for them and hot dogs for the parents! Photo ops will also be available and parents are invited to wear costumes.

Also on that date beginning at 4 p.m., the American Legion Post #361425 will be hosting a rocky mountain oyster feed and gun raffle. They are located at 1425 9th street in Gering. Also that evening at the Lied Public Library in Scottsbluff, the Teen Advisory Council will be hosting their second “Mystery at the Masquerade.” It’s interactive and for ages 8 years and up. The second meet and greet for our local write-in candidates will be held at the Double L Cafe on Sunday afternoon, October 16th. Door prizes, shirts, and a raffle. So come and learn more about who you will be voting for. The time is from 1-3 p.m.

It’s another chance to meet the challengers for Banner County commissioner, treasurer and clerk elected offrices.

October 18-20 are Animal Feline Spay & Neuter Days at Animal Health Center, located at 190624 US-26. You need to pre-register at 308-635-0116.

Here at home this week, the elementary students will be headed to the Adams Family Pumpkin Patch in Scottsbluff on Thursday the 13th – Today! Have fun and pick out a good one.

There is district cross country on the 13th too, high school only, at 3 p.m. For more information, please call 436-5262.

Sports wise on Friday, October 14th, there will be competition here at home. At 5:30 p.m. the junior varsity volleyball team from South Platte will go up against our high school girls and at 7 p.m. there will be football.

MAC volleyball will begin the following day in Bridgeport at 9 a.m. More high school volleyball on the 18th here at home against Peetz, Colorado. Game time is 5 p.m.

On Thursday the 19th the FFA students will be involved in state land judging. Safe travel and good luck to all of you.
