Thousands of books and more will be on sale at bargain basement prices during the Friends of the Kimball Library Book Sale over Faremer's Day weekend.
Several thousand books will go on sale Friday and Saturday at the Friends of the Kimball Library Book Sale in the back room of the Kimball Public Library.
The sale includes fiction, non-fiction, kids and teen books, movies, audiobooks, puzzles and CDs. Most items sell for an inflation resistance price of 50 cents each.
Kim Sharples, president of the Friends of the Library said, "The book sale and the cornhole tournament are the biggest fundraisers for the Friends."
The sale starts Friday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m., and follows on Saturday, the 24th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friends of the Library members receive early access to the book sale each day, a free book, and discounts on the Bag Sale. Membership for Friends of the Kimball Library is $5 a year.
The books and other items are a result of donations and "weeding." Weeding is the process of getting rid of books that "haven't earned their place," according to Library Director Amber Sweetland. Every year they replace 3 percent of the total books in the library.
The Friends of the Library helps promote the library's resources and services. With funds from the book sale and corn hole tournament, they purchase equipment and materials not available through the regular library budget and support the summer reading program.
