Dignitaries Announced For Farmer's Day

The Farmer’s Day Committee has announced the dignitaries for Farmer’s Day 2022.

A new category, Outstanding Entrepreneur, sponsored by the Nebraska Extension has been created, Hannah Synder received the award. Snyder owns Nebraska Coffee and Kimball Extended Stays. She is credited with promoting her thriving business as well as supporting other businesses.

The Grand Marshall for the 2022 Farmer’s Day Parade is long-time resident Rose Marie Anderson. The Anderson family moved to Kimball in the early 1960s when the oil fields were booming, and the Minuteman missiles were being built. Upon their arrival, they purchased a new home in the Sunnyview addition and operated various businesses in town, including gas stations and finally a new car dealership.

Rose Marie started Rose Marie Anderson Travel Agency and operated it for several years, along with organizing bus trips to Deadwood. She has been a Kimball ambassador, worked the hamburger line, and regularly donates to projects for local children. Although Kimball has had its ups and downs, she has always been a strong believer and supporter of the town. For 60 years, she has been a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Aaron Abraham was selected as the Outstanding Volunteer. He helps with various concessions and volunteers at the Eagles. He gives his time to many local causes and wants the best for Kimball.

Doug and Sandy Lukassen will be recognized as Outstanding Farmers. Doug and Sandy are third-generation Kimball County farmers/ranchers who have expanded their cattle operation and acquired additional land.

The Lukassens have been representatives on the county fair board and Nebraska State Fair Board. Their support of the local FFA and 4-H programs has been instrumental, and those programs are near and dear to their hearts. In addition, they are members of the Eagles and have been involved in NCIP and the LEED program.
