Elementary, High School Kids To Dress Like Each Other

Banner County

Hello, here is hoping you a a great Labor Day weekend. As warm as our weather is this was probably not your last chance to barbecue, hit the lake, camp, or have other summer type of fun.

We diffenately need some rain, but other than that I am good for awhile yet.

The town of Morrill still has two Farmers Markets for you to catch – September 8th, Today! – and the 13th, both from 3-6 p.m. at the FOMO Park, west edge of town.

Chimney Rock Pioneer Days will be celebrated in Bayard the 9th to 11th with a parade, class reunions, and much more. You are invited and more information is to be found at http://www.facebook.com/Chimney-RockPioneer-Days/.

Also on Sunday the 11th, the FREE Community Fishing Night, through the Nebraska Games and Parks will be at the Riverside Zoo Park Pond. The fishing session is from 4-6 p.m. and be looking for the Family Fishing Trailer.

Here on the home front, there is high school volleyball – Today! September 8th – at 4 p.m. vs. Leyton, a triangular.

Since this is Homecoming week the plan for today was for the high school/junior high classes to dress as elementary students and for elementary students to dress like them. Sometimes I see them doing this anyway, so maybe it will be interesting.

Friday, the 9th is Spirit Day. The volleyball game starts at 4 p.m. vs. Minatare with football at 7 p.m. There will also be cross country at 1 p.m. at Kimball, and regular school will be in session. However, our fourth grade class will be absent from this building and in attendance at Flowerfield.

The next day, Saturday, will be the homecoming dance and it will begin at 7 p.m. and there will be more high school volleyball at Bridgeport. This will involve four schools.

The 12th and 13th will bring junior high volleyball to Hay Springs at 3 p.m., followed by football at 4. The school board will meet at 7.

More volleyball for these same kids the next day with a triangular at Leyton (Gurley site). Game time is at 4 p.m. and at the same time, same date the cross country team will be in competition at Bridgeport. Safe travel and good luck to each of you.

On the 14th, the FFA students involved in the District Range Judging will be somewhere in Scottsbluff County and there will be an assembly on Digital Citizenship for grades 4-12. The classes will be in groups and the sessions will be staggered. This is about tips and guidelines on the use of appropriate and responsible behavior while they are using technology. Know a few adults who could use this, how about you, know anyone?

Here is just a heads up! The Harvest Festival at the Legacy of the Plains will be next weekend, the 17th to 18th, and the featured crop this year is potatoes!

Have a great week and take care until the next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
