Mars Presents Free Piano Recital Sunday

Patrick Mars will present his senior piano recital this Sunday, June 5, at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 601 S. Locust St. in Kimball. Patrick, along with fellow local, Chloe Berger, were two of five piano students statewide to be chosen by the UNL music faculty to receive a 2021 Nebraska Young Artist of the Year Award.

The public is invited to attend this free recital.

Not only will Patrick’s recital feature solo works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, but he will share the spotlight with seven members of his immediate family, performing duets with each.

Like each of his siblings, Patrick has been homeschooled by his parents, Rev. Kenneth and Vickie Mars, and will receive his high school diploma from Memoria Press Online Academy. He will attend Concordia University-Nebraska in Seward this fall on scholarships to pursue a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, while also continuing his studies in piano.

Patrick has studied piano for eight years and organ for three years with Patricia (Randolph) Fletcher, who holds the M.M. degree from Eastman School of Music.
