Suspect's Bond Remains $100,000

Contact With His Children Permitted Under Protection Order

Kimball manslaughter suspect William Shane Serrano had a motion this month for a bond review. He is charged with five felonies, including manslaughter and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

Judge Derek S. Weimer took the May 3 bond review under advisement and issued his order. Serrano has a $100,000 bond, which is to remain unchanged.

The court then permitted Serrano to have contact with his minor children with conditions. The conditions must conform to the provisions of a protection order.

Judge Weimer's ruling said: "Such communication is additionally to be monitored and/or recorded by the staff in the correctional facility or jail in which the defendant is being housed. Under no circumstances is the defendant permitted to discuss his pending criminal matters with the minor children or any other witness in these communications."

Briefs were due on the plea in abatement from the defendant on May 20 and the state by May 27.
