The board reconsidered this action as a result of a letter from Fire Chief Andrew Bohac requesting the removal of the barricades at Gotte Park and 4th Street. Bohac's letter stated, “In my professional opinion, I believe that barricades are greatly reducing our ability to respond efficiently to any emergency on the streets of 4th and Adams due to only being able to respond from one direction.”
The council requested that city street superintendent Jim Shoup construct speed bumps be at the entrance to Gotte Park from 4th Street.
Matt Larsen from Vistabeam presented and then requested that the City Council partner with Vistabeam to provide broadband for all areas. No action was taken.
One Business Improvement Grant was on the agenda for the April meeting. Panhandle Automotive Group's request for $5,566.38 was approved. The repairs included new windows, doors and repair of the awning at their new location, 703 E. 3rd St.
Finally, with graduation approaching, the city council approved resolution 22-05, which will close Highway 30 from Washington Street to Chestnut Street on May 13, from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. for the High School Senior Graduation Parade, which has become a tradition resulting from COVID.
The remaining council business was conducted by consent agenda.
Mayor Keith Prunty said the next council meeting would be held at home in the council meeting room in City Hall.
