LONGHORN TRACK

Two senior girls provide leadership for the Kimball track team – Kaitlin Heeg and Tianna Stierwalt.

Heeg has high exceptions for herself. "I hope to place in everything I do," she said, referring to the WTC meet on Tuesday. Her events include 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump, and possibility the long jump.

Tianna Stierwalt placed third in the high jump at Chappell, 6th in the 400 m. run and ran a leg on the 4x400 m. relay, which ranked fourth. At Holyoke, Stierwalt jumped her personal best at 4-09 in the high jump.

High jumper Jadyen Paxton is looking to improve her personal best of 4-10 and "possibly PR again."

Pole vaulter James McGinnis is looking to vault 11-6 at the WTC meet. His best this season has been 11'5.

Coach Tiffany Johnson said, "WTC meet that was supposed to be (Thursday, April 14) was moved to Tuesday, and then we also have a meet coming up on Friday. This season has been difficult because of the wind and cold temperatures. We have spent more days working inside than out. With that being the case, I'm pleased with the way our athletes have performed, and they continue to improve. I look for positive things to happen the more we can get outside to work on our events."

In reference to the meet at Holyoke, Johnson said, "It was a great day to be a Longhorn! We walked away with 3 - 1st, 6 - 2nd, 2 - 3rd, 3- 4th, 2-5th, 2-6th. A lot of our athletes added events today that they don't normally do. I am very proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zone. Way to go, Longhorns!"

Friday, the Horns will be in action at Mitchell.

Longhorns' WTC results will appear in next week's Observer.
