Diane Lynn Wallace

Diane Lynn (Gordon) Wallace, of Las Vegas, NV passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 after a valiant and gracious battle with cancer.

Over everything else, Diane enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Many describe Diane as patient and generous. Her generosity was contagious, and one way she showed love was by giving people thoughtful gifts. She cared deeply for family traditions and passed along favorite recipes for many to enjoy.

Diane was a teacher for over 40 years and her legacy of caring for children will have lasting effects for generations.

Diane was born on December 5, 1949 to George and Harriet Gordon. She graduated from high school in 1967 in Hemingford, Nebraska. In 1971, she graduated from Chadron State College where she was the president of the Student Education Association. She married Bill Wallace on December 23, 1972 in Hemingford, Nebraska.

Diane began her notable teaching in Banner County Schools in 1971, where she taught until 1974. The list of the schools where she taught countless children and made friends with many coworkers includes these schools: Bayard Elementary School (1974-1988), Education Service Unit in Hastings, Nebraska (1988-1989), Kimball Public Schools (1990-2006) and Burns Wyoming Elementary Schools (2006-2014), where she was awarded teacher of the year.

Diane Served on the Kimball Board of Education where she was instrumental in the building of the auxiliary gym. In 2004-2005 she was in the Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bill Wallace, daughter Danelle Froistad (husband Rick, and grandkids William, Jackson, and Emersen) of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barb and Punk Ebberson of Surprise, AZ; good friend Mary Odean.

She is preceded in death by parents George and Harriet Gordon, mother-in-law and father-in-law Bob and Tommy Wallace, and son Dustin Wallace.

A memorial fund has been set up and any donations can be made to Burns Elementary School, in the name of the Diane Memorial Fund and sent to 630 East 4th Street, Burns WY, 82053.
