School Board Says Yes To $2.8M Project

The Kimball School Board met in special session on Monday Feb. 21, to listen to the final presentation from president Jacob Hurla of Community Building Solutions.

After the presentation, the board unanimously approved a $2.8 million improvement package for the Jr./Sr. High and Mary Lynch schools.

The improvements will replace heating units and add cooling capacity to both facilities, as well as air purification units. Other improvements include LED lighting at Mary Lynch and new windows and doors at the Jr./ Sr. High School.

According to Superintendent Trevor Anderson, $1.7 million will be financed at 1.4%, an additional $660,000 will come from reimbursable ESSER Funds, and the remaining $400,000 will come from the special building fund.

The board and superintendent said they were confident that the tax levy would not increase.

The loan will be paid back through the special building fund.

Improvements are scheduled to be completed by Aug. 10, but that is subject to change due to supplies not being available.
