Lady Longhorns Keep On Battling

Last Tuesday, we traveled to Pine and as expected, it was a physical battle.

We lost 55-34 but continued to show good defense throughout the game.

The girls definitely showed their conditioning level as we had to go into full court man defense to try to dig out of a bad 3rd quarter showing. They fought hard but it was not enough to bring home the win.

 Kimball vs. Hemingford

On Friday, we hosted Hemingford for our girls’ Senior Parent Night. We are so incredibly proud of the six seniors who played their last game on our home court on Friday.

We also recognized 4 student managers as well. Managers this year were Grace Murdoch, Tiana Stierwalt, Sophie Rose and Bea Bergo.

Senior Cheerleaders Gideon Casimiro and Maddison Merryfield were also recognized. We would like to thank them all for supporting us this year.

The seniors Chantel Malson, Maddison Merryfield, Amy Birkhofer, Payton Wise, Katie Heeg and Sarinda Bateman all should be commended on their efforts and dedication to this team. They all have made strides as basketball players as well as young women. We would like to thank the parents as well as the players for their dedication to this season as well as the last 4 years. 

Unfortunately, we came up short on Friday night against Hemingford. The final score was 57-34.

The effort and attitude displayed by the Lady Longhorns down the stretch should speak volumes about these young women. Even down 20 points, they fought until the end and put forth great effort.

Katie Heeg showed up big for us in scoring as well as leadership on the floor.

We faced Perkins County on Tuesday this week in the first round of subdistricts in Bridgeport. We play at 6:30 p.m. Sutherland takes on Bridgeport and the winners will play on Thursday night.
