Feb. 16 Geography Bee Among Lineup Of Area Events

Good morning Banner County, friends near and far!

Let’s hope that we are all a little warmer this week. The moisture from our recent snow was welcomed but the freezing temperatures were not! On the bright side, however, the days are getting a little bit longer.

Today, February 10th the junior high boys basketball team will compete at Bayard in a MAC Tournament and then again on Saturday. There is no time listed so for this information please call 436-4252.

Tuesday the 11th the high school boys basketball team will be playing the final home game of the season. Game time is 4 p.m. against the Guernsey JV.

The high school wrestlers will be in competition at Bridgeport on Saturday the 12th and the speech team will be in Gering.

Also on Saturday Bryan White will be at the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff at 8 p.m. for your weekend entertainment. This popular singer/songwriter has had 19 No. 1 hits, including “God Gave Me You.” Also showing at the Midwest on the 11th is the Golden Globe winning movie “Belfast” at 7:30 p.m. and again on the 13th at 1:pm.

The Carnegie Arts Center continues with their Winter Adventure Arts Camp now through March 7th and for youth ages 7-12 through March 26th. For more information please call 762-4571.

The Winter Farmers Market continues on Saturday, February 12th at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Guadalupe Society of St. Rose Catholic Church in Torrington will be holding an Enchilada Sale from noon to 4 p.m. on the 12th. They’re located on 2nd Avenue.

On Monday February 14th the elementary kids will be having their annual Valentine’s Day parties. Basically they will fill them up with sugar and send them home for your evenings enjoyment!

On this same date, the high school girls will begin the sub-district basketball games and finish those up the following evening. No time, no place listed, so you know where to call.

There is also a school board meeting at 7 p.m.

On the 16th, there will be a geography bee which will begin at 9 a.m.

If you have or are dealing with cancer, you are invited to a support group at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. The group meets every 4th Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the South Medical Plaza. If you would like more information please call 630-1535.

The Community Christian Church will be having their annual enchilada sale from noon until 8 p. on the 15th and again on the 16th from noon until 9 p.m. They are located at 511 w 14th street, Scottsbluff.

The Riverside Discovery center has two new residents. Two pumas, one from Nebraska and one from Montana, are looking for your help for a name. The contest is going on now and you vote inside the zoo entrance. Choices are as follows: Pinky & The Brain; Felix & Milo; Snickers & Twix; and Mateo & Diego. Cast your ballot by February 28th to help pick the winner!
