Malson Calls It A Career For Horns XC

For the fourth time in as many years, Chantel Malson ran in the Nebraska State cross county meet. Of 127 runners in the Class D meet Oct. 22, the Kimball Longhorn senior placed 66th on the Kearney course.

"Chantel's high school cross country career has come to an end," Kimball cross country coach Tiffany Johnson posted on kpslonghorns.org. "She was a four-time state qualifier. She finished 66th/127 and ran a 23:29. I am very proud of her and her XC career at Kimball."

At the end of her first mile, Malson was in 57th place and ran a 7 minute mile. By the end of the second mile, her time was 14.51. Her final time was 23.29.9 for the 5,000-meter race.

Jordyn Arens, a sophomore from Crofton, won the Class D meet with a time of 19.11.5.
