A Lofty Artistic Venture In Potter

"Be the person you needed when you were little" is the motto of Jennifer Thomas at the Potter Art Loft. Jennifer had wished she had had a creative spot to go to when she was little, and now area children have that creative outlet.

Some years ago, a professional artist had a studio above the Collective Gathering in Potter. When the area was vacated, Thomas decided that would be a perfect spot for a community art space.

Before the pandemic, she taught all day, then opened the art loft for kids to do painting and projects after school.

"We had tons of kids before COVID," she said.

Since COVID, the Potter Art Loft has been gradually increasing classes and painting parties. The object is to keep fees for supplies and projects affordable for kids and adults.

The art loft is an art studio for community events, birthday parties and seasonal painting parties for kids and adults.

In preparation for Halloween, Jennifer sponsored a "Monster Painting." The 2- to 6-year-olds painted their cut-out monsters, and put eyes, eyebrows, and either happy faces or frowns on their monsters.
