State Reinstates COVID Dashboard; 223 Panhandle Cases

Area concerns for COVID-19 are rising as the state of Nebraska and Gov. Pete Rickets have announced the state COVID dashboard will be reinstated beginning this week.

On Monday, the Unified Command confirmed 223 more cases of the virus in the Panhandle over the past seven days, including all ages. The northern Panhandle recorded 76 cases, Scotts Bluff area 119 cases, and the southern Panhandle 28, according to the Panhandle Public Health District.

Kimball Health Services continues to conduct COVID testing Monday through Friday. Call 308-235-1966 to get a required appointment for the testing.

Jess Webb at Kimball Health Services said the number of people testing “has varied greatly week to week.”

She also said, “Please call our office first, and we can provide instructions on where to present for treatment or testing.”

Vaccinations are still available in Kimball. People can sign up at pphd.org and then click on the Kimball link. “They can also receive them at their routine provider appointments here at the clinic in Kimball.” Webb said.

Kimball Health Services is awaiting the final information about when and who can receive the booster shots. They will notify people through the newspaper or social media.

PPHD continues to caution people to avoid crowded places and gathering in groups where you cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from other; avoid close contact, wearing a mask over your nose and mouth or maintaining 6 feet of distance when you are spending more than 15 minutes with people you don’t live with; and avoid confined spaces, enclosed spaces with poor ventilation.
