Kimball Invite In The Books

The Kimball Four Winds Golf Course was the site of the Kimball XC Invite, with almost 200 runners in the junior high and high school divisions competing.

Runners from Wheatland, Cheyenne, Torrington, Hemingford, Pine Bluffs, Banner County and the entire Panhandle traveled to Kimball for the invite and ran in 98-degree heat.

Girls

In the high school girls 5,000 meters, lone Longhorn competitor Chantel Malson placed in 9th place out of 50 runners with a time of 24:20.13.

Boys

Kimball High School boys cross country team added some former football players to their roster, and they learned what a rugged sport cross country could be.

Kimball's Braylon Miller won the top spot on the Kimball team, placing 23rd in a time of 21:42.25. Xavier Thomas-Lewis placed 33rd, and Wyatt Cords following in 34th place. James McGinnis originally was out for football but now as a member of the cross country team placed 43rd in his first meet ever. Joseph Bremer came in 48th, followed by Patrick Howard in 59th, and Ethan Evans in 67th.

Junior Matthew Johnson usually runs well in cross country but wasn't feeling well, according to Coach Tiffany Johnson, and was unable to participate in his first meet.

Another football player, Trey Schindler, struggled in his first meet and was unable to finish.

Junior High

The Kimball junior high boys had a great meet with Braxton Miller running second in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 10:07.35, followed by seventh graders Trey Cook in fifth place with a time of 10:59.72. Cameron McGinnis took 12th place and Wyatt Cook came in at 25th, both seventh graders. A host of Kimball runners placed 35th, 36th, 37th and 38th, including Damian Vandewater, Peter Russell, Parker Frederick, and Kip Gillming, respectively
