Record 37 Teams Highlight Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament

Teams from Sidney and Kimball took top honors at the 30th Annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic at Four Winds Golf Course on Saturday.
An impressive 16-under-par 56 earned the Shelter Insurance-Sidney team of Richard Estrada, Trevor Schuessler, Mike O'Connell and Andrew Stieb first place after a scorecard playoff over second-place finishers Zane Anthony, Brendan Walker, Brian Williams and Cole Bush of Kimball.
Taking third with a 15-under-par 57 in the four-person scramble fundraiser were Chuck Christiansen, Jeff Greenwood, Henry Heeg and Katie Heeg, also of Kimball.
No one was able to cash in on a $5,000 prize during the Wolf Automotive-sponsored putting contest, sponsored by Wolf Automotive, although Troy Kurz of Sidney won a quadricopter drone donated by Spectrum Reach in a drawing among the putting contest participants.
No one was able to cash in on the Wolf Automotive Million Dollar Hole-in-One competition, although Nick Kuxhausen of Mitchell, one of 10 qualifiers for the contest, drew the crowd's excitement by landing his 165-yard attempt about 4 feet from the number 9 pin.
Charles Ferguson of Hastings took home a Treager pellet grill, a raffle prizes donated to the Foundation by Hometown Hardware, John and Missy Moritz, Joe and Deb Fennell and Rollie Hager.
Mark Daum of Dix won the raffle for a customized AR-15 rifle donated by Ken and Cynthia Hunter and Sonny and Kathy Porter.
A record 37 teams from Kimball and several area towns took part in the tournament, which is the Foundation's biggest annual fundraising event. This year the Foundation is raising funds to purchase new medical equipment for the planned new hospital.
"For 30 years now, the community's support of this tournament has helped the hospital and clinic provide our residents with quality, affordable health care," foundation director Kerry Ferguson said. "It's been wonderful to see the community's excitement about plans for a new hospital and the way people are supporting our efforts, including the golf classic. This year, the hospital and clinic staff and the Foundation board really pulled together to put on a good event."
