Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
One of the bigger golf tournaments of the season goes down this Saturday at Four Winds Golf Course.
The Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic is back with its 30th annual edition.
A record field of foursomes is signed up this year in the event that raises funds to purchase new medical equipment for Kimball Health Services.
"We have 38 teams signed up," the foundation's Kerry Ferguson told the Observer. "That's two more than full, but (Four Winds golf pro) Chad Wise is allowing two teams from Haselden Construction, our general contractors for the new hospital. That's a record number of teams.
"We've received wonderful support from local businesses and hospital vendors and hope to raise a nice amount of money for new equipment in our new hospital."
The previous record of 36 teams and 144 golfers participated last year. The entry fee is $320 per team, so another fine day is in store for KHS during the same week it was announced that plans to build a new hospital are moving ahead with the needed federal funding.
The entry fees, not counting cart rental, total $12,160.
The shotgun start for the classic is noon Saturday after a barbecue lunch and registration at 11 a.m. Each player will receive a Titleist golf cap for men or visor for women.
Highlights include the Wolf Automotive $1 Million Shootout, plus hole-in-one and putting contests for cash prizes.
