Clean Harbors Thinking Big

Expansion Would Include Second Incinerator, 100 Permanent Jobs

Clean Harbors is looking into a major expansion at its facility south of Kimball that would involve construction of a second incinerator and could create about 100 jobs.

The company released this statement to the Observer on Tuesday from Clean Harbors spokesman Jim Buckley:

“Clean Harbors is exploring the potential of expanding the capacity at its Kimball, Neb., facility by building a second incinerator. This state-of-the-art incineration unit, which will exceed all state and federal emissions control standards, will go through a rigorous permitting and regulatory review process.

“The company projects that construction of the new incineration unit would be completed and operational in 2025. The multi-million-dollar expansion project would potentially create about 100 permanent jobs. Clean Harbors will work closely with the citizens monitoring committee, as well as local and state officials, to ensure that they are updated throughout the process.

“Since 1995, Clean Harbors has operated an incinerator in Kimball, Neb.  The facility provides incineration, storage and transfer services to a wide range of customers, including manufacturers of electronic equipment, chemicals, plastics and machinery, as well as laboratories, utilities, petroleum distributors and government facilities.

“The Kimball operation, which is on 640 acres of land, today employs close to 200 people and is a critical vendor to many companies in the state.”
