Anton, Muldoon Medal At State

The Potter-Dix Coyotes sent their track and field qualifiers to the NSAA Class D State Championships in Omaha late last week, and some outstanding performances earned a few of the athletes medals at the end of the competition.

A few Coyote athletes picked the right time to achieve personal best marks in an event while competing in the State Championships.

Potter-Dix junior Thomas Muldoon placed fifth in the boys 800-meters with a time of 2:05.02, a personal best and garnering the best placing for Potter-Dix. Muldoon’s previous best was 2:06.08 at the District meet.

Potter-Dix senior Jared Anton cleared 12 feet 6 inches, a personal best, to take eighth place and also earn a medal. He beat his previous best, 11 feet 6 inches, by a full foot.

Sophomore Luke Kasten did not qualify for the finals in the 100 meters, and placed 22nd overall.

Sophomore Ben Johnson also did not qualify for the finals in the 200 meters, and earned 24th place overall.

The 4x800 Meter Relay team of Thomas Muldoon, Luke Kasten, Zach Rotert and Brayden Kasten finished 16th with a time of 9:05.42.

Muldoon also placed 11th in the high jump, while Luke Kasten placed 13th.

Potter-Dix’s lone female qualifier, sophomore Jayden Shoemaker, placed 16th in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 7 inches, a personal best jump. Her previous best was 4 feet 6 inches, which she cleared multiple times during the season.

Potter-Dix looks poised to build on this season’s success with a strong and improving group of underclassmen that will challenge for a District title and have an impact at State in the coming years.
