Here Come Graduation & Mama's Day

Banner County

Good morning, Banner County! Here we are on the home stretch as far as senior graduation 2021 goes! Hallelujah!

However, before all of that, the kids have high school track at Leyton this Friday, May 7th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Then they will compete at districts on Wednesday the 12th. For more inflammation please call the school at 436-5262. Safe travel and good luck to all of you.

The regular school board meeting is on Monday the 10th at 7 p.m.

Over the weekend,we will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9th. Mother’s Day as we know it was started by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and made an official national holiday in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson.

Anna was determined to keep “Mother’s” a singular possessive, by placing the apostrophe before the ‘s’ so that every mother across the country would feel the love, even in the middle of a national celebration. Happy Mother’s Day. Some of us were off a week and celebrated last week ...

Birthdays here this week include: Casey Adrian, Gregg Wurdeman, Carissa Marler, Connor Cochran, Tatum Revelle, Wyatt Lind, Jacob Knaub, Jeri Revelle, Zane Hopkins, Hallie Cochran, Kacia Farro, Ryan Parker, Rick Lind, Ann Gillway and Todd Baker. Happy Happy Birthday!

Happy anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Carl Gillbert.

Good news regarding the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff. They have re-opened and celebrated 75 years on May 3rd by showing “Gilda,” which was the first film ever shown there. To keep things going they will have “April Verch & Cody Walters” on Friday, May 7th. This is free live entertainment and well worth your time. The doors open at 6:45 and the very lively show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Over the weekend, they will show “NOMADLAND” on the 8th at 7:30 p.m. and the 9th at 1:30 p.m. There is a ticket fee. At the SkyView Drive-In, the movie “Wrath of Man” will be showing 8:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday, also for a fee.

Well, folks, that is all for now, have a great week and take care until next time.
