Karen Valdes Named Young Educator of Year

Good morning Banner County! Beautiful here the past few days, and a great Easter weekend, hope yours went well.

Congratulations to former Banner County School graduate, Karen Valdes in being named the “Young Educator of the Year 2021.”

Karen is the daughter of Don and Dina Cashler and teaches in Hastings.

This coming week looks pretty busy at the schoolhouse. The speech team will host “Sweets and Speech” on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the school. Everyone is welcome.

There will be a regular day of school on the following Friday and on Saturday, April 10th, the high school track team will travel to Bayard, and travel again on Monday the 12th for a twilight meet at Creek Valley that will start at 1:30 p.m.

The junior high track team will compete at the Potter-Dix Invite on Wednesday, April 14th, in Kimball. Good luck and safe travel to all of you.

The regular school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 12th.

Over the hill and through the woods, the High Plains Auto Car Club will take a cruise on Saturday the 10th and everyone is invited. The folks at Runza will host their 4th annual “Feed the Need” on Tuesday, April 13th in which 10% of all of their sales will go to helping feed hungry children.

Kindergarten students will begin to be introduced to the Scottsbluff Leid Library as Kinder-carding kicks off on Wednesday, April 14th. This will last all day.

Birthdays here in the Burg this week include: Marianne Carlson, Winnie Smith, Kindra Olsen, Bette Griffiths, Josefina Whelchel, Micheal Macias, Ken Krakow, and Mason Ray Lease. Happy Happy Birthday!
