$115,342 In Recycling Grants For Kimball

Keep Kimball Beautiful received a share – a nice share – of the $6.69 million in grants that support 144 projects across the state of Nebraska, according to Nebraska Department of environment and energy Director Jim Macy.

In total, KKB received $115,342.

Keep Kimball Beautiful received a $24,532 grant for public education for Kimball and Banner County schools focusing on litter prevention and proper waste management.

In addition for recycling, KKB received a grant of $73,216 to continue to operate the Kimball Recycling Center, which serves Kimball County. The past two years, 655,000 pounds of recyclable material have been diverted from the landfill.

Finally, KKB received a $17,594 grant which will be used to increase recycling by providing collection services for rural residents and residential alley recycling serving Kimball and Banner counties.

In addition, Banner County Schools received a 50% reimbursement of 156,000 pounds of rubber playground mulch to the tune of a $20,608 grant.
