Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Cody “Lil Hippie” Brinkman, 13, spent the past week riding miniature bulls in Mesquite, Texas, at the World Finals where Cody placed 17th in the field of 56 senior bull riders, ages 12-14.
Cody and his mother returned home from Texas late Sunday after a week of bull riding. Over the course of the week, Cody stepped up on seven bulls – and he admits he is a little sore from the experience.
The World Finals started on Wednesday.
Cody was unable to make the whistle on his first ride, but had an exciting day on Friday when he “covered” his bull and recorded a 71.00, which placed him eighth in the round and 15th overall.
But the semifinals on Saturday turned out to be tough as he didn’t cover his bull in that round and was eliminated.
The experience of the World Finals will stay with Cody forever as there were bull riders from Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Canada. Friendships, sportsmanship and knowing it takes hard work were the rewards for Cody.
