Big Fine For Killing Big Horn Sheep

Banner County News

Good morning. Here is hoping that you all will be stuffed with turkey and all sorts of goodies over the Thanksgiving weekend!

The weather is decent and thankfully we still are able to move about at a fairly normal pace. More and more restrictions are being put into place and I am wondering how this year is going to end. Still no officially elected President. However, we will hang in there!

Many area schools have gone ahead and closed school for all of this week, giving two more days for recuperation for those in need. Our churches here are still open with social distancing practices in place.

Santa’s Village in Scottsbluff will not open this year, but you can still see him out at the SkyView Drive-In. They will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 28th and he will cruise the area until about 6 p.m. The movie “ Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer “ will begin at 6:15 p.m. The concession stand will be open and hot chocolate and coffee will be available. The winter farmers market will be out at the Monument Mall earlier that day, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Did you happen to see where one of our local Big Horn Sheep was recently mistaken for a deer, and was shot and killed? Man, oh man. A $2,500 fine. Good. I grew up with guns and hunting, and even with older eyes I can still see enough to know the difference between these two animals.

Birthdays this week include: Shane Cochran, Bill Gifford, Trevor Parsons, Genie Evans, Kevin Hostettler, Brensten McGowan, Hope Wurdeman, and Don Cashler. Happy Happy Birthday!

Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. James Wyatt, Monty Stoddard, and Pat Mooney. Well that is it for now. Short this week, but then holidays and the viruses have a way of doing that.

Here are a couple of quotes to leave with you, hopefully a little uplifting.

“ Thankfulness is The Quickest Path to Joy.” – Jefferson Giraud,

“ It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.” – Unknown.

Point here is from me to you, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Take care until next time, Barb Cross at 436-7152.
