Longhorn Runners Face Tough Competiton At Alliance

Chantel Malson shows off her running form at the Kimball Invitational. She is coach Tiffany Johnson's top girl runner and is hoping for a return trip to the Nebraska state meet coming up soon.

Kimball's Cross Country team traveled to Alliance on Saturday to compete in the Alliance Invitational, and went against the very best runners in the Panhandle area.

The boys team was able to manage a seventh place finish in the team competition with senior Connor Cluff leading the Kimball squad with a 39th place finish at 22:06.83.

He was followed by sophomore Xavier Thomas-Lewis in 41st place at 22:27.58 and freshman Braylon Miller in 45th place at 22:44.48.

The girls squad did not place as a team.

However, junior runner Chantel Malson placed 30th with a time of 24:20.08.

Senior Raven Johnson finished in 41st place with a time of 25:37.97 at the invitational.

The Kimball runners are scheduled to travel on Thursday to compete at the Ogallala Invite.
