Longhorn Boys Third In Kimball Cross Country Invite

Kimball’s Boys cross country team was able to earn a third place showing at the Kimball Invitational on Friday, with sophomore Matthew Johnson and senior Connor Cluff leading the Longhorns runners with a seventh and eight place finish respectively.

The Bridgeport team earned top honors with 29 points, while the Bayard squad placed second with 34 points. Kimball ended with 37 points, good enough for a third place result.

Johnson finished with a time of 21:27 and Cluff finished with a time of 21:35. Freshman Braylon Miller placed 11th with a time of 21:44 and freshman Joseph Bremer finished 17th with a time of 23:40 to round out the runners who finished in the top 20.

For the girls, junior Chantel Malson led the Lady Longhorns with a ninth place finish at 24:37 while senior Raven Johnson placed 16th with a time of 26:32.

The junior high boys team earned second place with a score of 32 led by seventh grader Braxton Miller who tied for third place, while eight-grader Cody Brinkman placed seventh with a time of 11:10 and eight-grader Trenton Hottell earned ninth place with a time of 12:04. No Kimball junior high girls placed in the top 20 in their race.

The Longhorns are next scheduled to compete on Sept. 19 at the Alliance Invite.
