Farmer's Day: The Show Must Go On

But Some COVID Changes Expected For Kimball’s Annual Celebration

The Farmer’s Day Committee is still working on the schedule for the 95th annual Farmer’s Day, which is set for Sept. 25-27.

According to the celebration’s Assunta Nelson, “There are still quite a few things still up in the air; it has been a strange year.”

The theme for this Farmer’s Day is “Sowing Seeds of Success.”

“Currently under the Directed Health Measure we can’t have a parade, but the parade committee is working on an alternative that should be really fun,” she said. “We are still ironing out the details. We are committed to having as many events as possible within the safety guidelines of Nebraska.”

There will be no pancake feed and no hamburger feed.

Many contests and events are planned. The cutest pet contest, baby contest, movie night, gun raffle, cornhole tournament, bike race, air Frisbee and book sale are still on the schedule.

“We want to have as much of the town celebration as possible because it is important to Kimball,” Nelson said. “We have a great committee and, we are all trying to do our best in this climate.”

Many decisions and events will not finalized until the first of September.

“This is improving our quality of life, one little step at a time,” Prunty said.

He mentioned that the trees in Gotte Parks have suffered this year.

“This was a bad year for trees,” he said. “I know we have some dead ones here, the guys have plans for taking them out.”
