Community Health Fair Goes On As Scheduled
August 20, 2020
Even in a year of coronavirus challenges, the Kimball Community Health Fair went on as planned last Friday and Saturday.
“Everything went very smoothly,” said Kerry Ferguson, the hospital’s director of community relations. “We had 101 participate on Friday and 96 on Saturday, many of which made appointments beforehand.
“That number is about two-thirds of normal, which is understandable considering the COVID-19 restrictions.”
Normally a semiannual event in Kimball, the spring health fair was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Conducted by Wyoming Health Fairs, the event offered various low-cost blood testing to help residents identify health problems before they become life-threatening.
Bone density screenings using Kimball Health Services’ bone density scanner also were offered to detect the early stages of osteoporosis
Some COVID-19-related precautions were taken for the event at the Kimball Health Services North Campus.
To promote social distancing and minimize waiting times, organizers strongly encouraged folks to make online or phone appointments for in advance.
All activities were from 7 to 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
