Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

First Place Is Payton's Place

Not a lot to share with you readers this week. The coronavirus played havoc with the Nebraska West Nebraska All Star Football game, which had to be canceled when a member of the East Team tested positive.

The volleyball match went on as scheduled and the West Team won in five straight sets.

Payton

Wise

I can boast once again on the play of our Payton Wise who did very well in the final two tournaments of the Panhandle Junior Tour.

She shot a round of 79, despite not putting her best, at Gering to tie for 2nd! In the final tournament at Scottsbluff on Monday she won with her round of 42-39 =81 to capture 1st place and bring home the gold medal.

Payton has played so well this summer and her golf future is so bright, and the Nebraska girls will have a season this fall! It looks like the Kimball girls could have a strong team with some other girls who should play strong along with Payton.

Foundation

Golf Classic

The Four Winds Golf Course will be very busy Saturday afternoon as it hosts the 29th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic.

Registration and a BBQ lunch will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a 12 noon shotgun start. Each player will receive a cap or visor and can enter the putting contest for cash prizes. There will also be numerous raffle and flag prizes.

The proceeds from this year's tournament will help purchase a new heart defibrillator monitor for use in the emergency room at Kimball Health Services.

Please note that open golf will be available in the morning Saturday, and maybe late afternoon after the tournament concludes.
