Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Local Sports Starting To Open Up A Bit

Thanks to the COVID-19 scare ,there was no end of the school year awards night this year at the Kimball High so the Kimball High athletes missed out on this annual tribute as well.

We published an entire list of accomplishments the graduating class achieved a couple of weeks back, but I want to give special recognition to Beau Hanks and Carli Wurdeman for being named Outstanding boy and girl Senior Athletes.

They both also received the WTC scholarships and WTC Scholar Athlete awards and both were 4 year 12 sport athletes!

Weight Room Opening

It appears things are starting to open up a bit as I received word that the Kimball High weight room will be opened to lifters beginning June 1 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Monday-Wednesday-Friday but limited to 10 lifters at a time.

Play Ball!

Word from the state also allows the youth baseball/softball programs to get ready for play with practice allowed starting June 1 and league competition starting June 18th.

I understand Kimball has plans for a program headed up by Ashley Thurin and application forms are available at different locations. If you have questions, call Ashley at 307-256-1051.

Four Winds Golf Course

Golf has been on-going at the Four Winds Golf Course and it has been busy with lots of local play and lots of out of town golf players coming in to enjoy our beautiful course that is in magnificent condition.

The good folks at the Pro Shop have been doing a very good job of making sure things are done safe on their part.

The leagues are all set to go with some certain restrictions, and the Father’s Day 3-person scramble is also in the plans and signups are being taken.

There may be some restrictions in place for this annual fun affair also according to chairman Randy Bohac, but rest assured it will be a fun format and gatherings like always.

LET THE FUN BEGIN!
