Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk: Sports? Yes, There's Still Some To Talk About

All of the sanctioned season sports still on hold so not much to watch, and or, write about, but golf is being played at our Four Winds Golf Course and despite rather cool weather, a few hardy souls have been out getting some very fresh air.

I have a hole-in-one to report this week as Tom Rooney of Cheyenne got an ace on March 25 on hole number 12 at the Four Winds using a nine iron on the 152 yard hole and playing partner Jim Mitchell witnessed the season’s first hole-in-one.

SPVA Honorable Mention

For Kimball Girls

I have also received word that three girls from the Kimball High basketball team were given Honorable Mention on the SPVA All-Conference Team by vote of the conference coaches.

Senior Carli Wurdeman was tied for the number 10 spot on the All Conference Team but lost by a tiebreaker vote leaving her with the top spot on the Honorable Mention list. Juniors Megan Spicer and Sydney Biesecker were also given Honorable Mention.

Bohac And His

Team Threepeat

You might recall I wrote that Adam Bohac had coached his Southern Nazarene University Men’s Basketball Team back to the Division II playoffs again this season, but like all college basketball it was canceled.

Coach Adam and his guys have won the GAC (Great American Conference) outright now for 3 consecutive seasons, and Adam has been named Conference Coach of the Year the last 3 seasons as well.

He also had both the offensive and defensive conference Players of the Year this season. His record this season was an enviable 24 and 8!

In case you happen to be new to our area, Adam Bohac was an outstanding athlete and scholar for Kimball High who went on to play basketball for the University of Nebraska.
