Banner County Notes: March Is On Track In Harrisburg

Good morning, Banner County!

Here we are in the first week of March and track practice is upon us. Watch out for those kids out running here and there. They usually are pretty good about wearing a safety vest, but it doesn’t hurt to be extra aware.

This is a short week at Banner County School due to parent/teacher conferences on Thursday and NO school for recovery Friday. School will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, March 9, the school board will hold its regular board meeting in the school cafeteria at 7 p.m. You all are encouraged and welcome to attend.

On the following evening, there will be the National Honor Society Induction ceremony, 6 p.m.

Birthdays this week include: Josh loutzenhiser,Chris Olsen, Lisa Cross, Holly Riechenberg, Terry Brown, Tate Olsen, Sharon Brown, Pam Mooney, Jenna Whelchel, Bert Olsen and Roger Lee McGowan. Happy Happy Birthday!

Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Gary Talkington and Dwayne Muhr. Tonight, March 5, there will be a Sportsmen’s Winter Fest at the Gering Civic Center at 6 p.m. The Redneck Bible Study Group will be featuring author/singer/ songwriter/sportsman Steve Chapman. This will be a great evening out for you guys and is not a fundraiser. For more information see the folks at WTT.

Beginning today, March 5, and continuing through March 11 there will be several Forest Service Public Service Meetings at the North Platte NRD beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a 45-day public commenting period online concerning the Nebraska Forest Action Plan. The web address is nfs.unl.edu/forest-action-plan. This opened up March 2 and will be available through April 15. Open it up, review, comment and submit.

Located at 1400 E. 20th St. in Scottsbluff, the Winter Market is open from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.

Head to Alliance once more on Monday, March 9 to enjoy some toe tapping Traditional Folk Music with an Irish flare. In the Alliance Public Library musicians Gwen Meister and Bill Behmer will entertain you beginning at 6 p.m.

Calling all future scientists … on Tuesday, March 10, the Science Fair Harms Center at WNCC will be the place for students in the sixth through 12th grades from all throughout the Panhandle. They will be on campus from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Down Kimball way on Monday, March 9, the Kimball Active Living Advisory Committee will meet at the Kimball Elementary School from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Well, folks, that is it for now, other than this important reminder: Set you clocks FORWARD one hour on Saturday, March 8. If you don’t you will be late for church Sunday and your whole week will be messed up.

Don’t you wish they would just leave it on one time schedule or another? This really messes with kids (especially little ones ) animals and older people. This I know for a fact.

Have a great week and take care!
