Boys Top Hemingford

A key win for the Kimball High boys Friday night as they kept their Western Trails Conference hopes alive with a 49-34 win over visiting Hemingford. The Longhorns looked sharp with some good passing and team work with everyone looking for the open man which turned into baskets and a lot of assists on the stat sheet.

First quarter play stayed close with Kimball leading 9-5 after the opening 8 minutes of play, but the Horns turned it on in second quarter action hitting 5 treys and out scoring the Cats 18-4 to take a half time lead of 27-9.

The Horns were strong inside for the win making 16 of 30 shots in the paint and were 36% overall from the field. On 3 point attempts they were 5/22 for 22%, and shot only 2/10 at the foul line for 20%. Kimball also charted 40 rebounds, had 17 assists, 14 blocked shots, 7 steals, 17 fouls, and 14 turnovers.

A big night for senior Beau Hanks who had 9 rebounds, 7 blocked shots, and 6 assists to lead in all of these categories. His blocks per game has to be one of the best in the region, if not the best. Lulf, Walker, and Thomas Muldoon all had 6 rebounds and Tyan 5. Cajero led in steals with 3.

Hemingford converted 5 treys, were 9/23 at the line, and had 14 fouls. They had 9 players score led by Kenny Wyland with 8 and Rick Turek with 7.
